Step one is a free consultation
The first step is a free consultation, not a crew on the roof. That visit covers which edges to run, where the power is, and how you want to use it. It costs nothing, and you are not signing anything to have it.
Custom design, not a template
Every roofline is a little different, which is why a template design usually looks off. A good design traces the lines the building already has: the main roofline, the gables, the dormers, the porch. Businesses get the same treatment across the facade, the entrance and the patio.
What install day involves
The crew does the whole thing. The channel follows the design and matches the trim. Power, control box and phone setup are part of the job, not left on your kitchen table in a box. Before the crew leaves, you get shown how to run it, so you can actually use it that evening.
Business installs
A commercial job runs on the same process: look at the building, draw the plan, install it. The difference is usually timing. Install timing gets planned around your hours, because nobody wants scaffolding across the front door on a Friday.
Getting the most out of the first visit
You do not have to do homework, though a couple of answers help. Think about which parts of the property you use after dark. Decide what the everyday setting should do, and say so out loud. And walk the property once at night before the visit, because dark spots are obvious then and invisible at two in the afternoon.
The first few weeks
Most people play with it for a week. That is part of it, and then a routine sets in. The everyday setting ends up plain, and the schedule does the work.Set the schedule before you forget about it. A system that comes on and goes off without anybody thinking about it earns its keep. There is very little asked of you while the crew works. Clear access to the roofline and the outlets helps: gates unlocked, cars moved off the drive, dogs
